All 94 Public WLAN Hotspots of GlobalAirNet AG will be WeRoam® enabled

admin
Berne, Switzerland - 31 July 2003. One of the leading German WLAN operators GlobalAirNet AG announced today the contract has been signed to WeRoam® enable all their current and future Hotspots in Germany.

By adding WeRoam® functionality to their existing WLAN Hotspots GlobalAirNet AG will be able to tap into the vast customer base of GSM operators all over the world that have selected WeRoam® services.

Through WeRoam®, WISP' may gain SIM and Radius based connectivity with the networks of Mobile Operators, and vice versa, so that a common roaming platform is created with an extensive worldwide footprint. This is done with minimal up front cost and maximum use of existing network resources.

The end-user experience is comparable to using a mobile phone - whichever network he or she is on and does not have to intervene with username, password, or any other such complication. The use of a SIM card (in fact a type of smart card) gives the operator the proven security of GSM phones and enables WLAN users to be provisioned and managed in the same way as mobile phone users.

According to TOGEWAnet CEO, Toni Stadelmann, "Our partnership with GlobalAirNet AG will give our WeRoam® customers and users access in key hotels in Germany. By being selective and by adding quality focused partners like GlobalAirNet AG to our global WeRoam® network we will enable customers of all our partners to enjoy the ease of use of global roaming for WLAN like they experience today with GSM.

Achim Möhrlein, CEO of GlobalAirNet AG says, "A mobile user in a GANAG Hotspot can easily multiply the data bandwidth available through UMTS or GPRS by using his own WLAN equipment. The authentication- and billing service that WeRoam® offers are based upon GSM standards. This makes using a hotspot so convenient for end user, that we are certain that our users will take advantage of WLAN while in a Hotspot area"

About GlobalAirNet AG

GlobalAirNet AG, headquartered in Munich, was founded January 2000 and is one of the top 3 providers of wireless Internet solutions for Hotels in Germany today. Originally focused on the ISP market with point to multipoint wireless links to bridge the last mile, GANAG contributes its experience and know how since September 2000 also to the Hotel sector.

End of 2000, the first GANAG Hotspot, the Feringa Parkhotel, went online. Since that time, a lot of well known Hotels like Crowne Plaza (Wiesbaden), Hotel Ambassador (Frankfurt), Hotel Continental (Frankfurt), Le Méridien (Hannover), Ramada Hotel (Wiesbaden), SIDE Hotel (Hamburg) as well as Hotels of the Best Western and Astron group are partner Hotels of GlobalAirNet AG. The networks that GANAG installs are based on the IEEE standard 802.11b according to Wi-Fi and cover the entire building.

GANAG installs, operates and maintains the WLAN system, ensure the link to the Internet-Backbone and provides technical support for the user. A hotline was established that is available 7 days a week. Since the beginning of this year, 50 additional Hotels are under contract. With 94 Hotspots, GANAG is number 2 in this business segment on the German market.

Besides a consolidation and expansion of the market position in Germany, a penetration of the European market is intended. Therefore GANAG will set up further co-operations with roaming partners to be in a position to offer, also in the future, the best possible service. For more information, please visit www.ganag.com

About TOGEWAnet

The Swiss company TOGEWAnet AG, established in 2001 and owned by TOGEWA Holding, specialises in mobility management and roaming optimisation solutions for the mobile and wireless telecommunications sector. TOGEWAnet' WeRoam service facilitates the seamless integration of WLAN and GSM network technologies, enabling global roaming for WLAN services and thereafter facilitating automatic and secure roaming between WLAN, GSM and GPRS. Key solutions found in GSM technology have been adopted to make up the WeRoam® service, which provides secure authentication (based on GSM SIM and Radius), signaling conversion, clearing and settlement services (based on TAP - Transferred Account Procedure) and management of contractual roaming agreements. The subscriber will benefit from greater roaming coverage and the convenience of swapping between different standards with the additional advantage of having a single identity, thus receiving only one bill from his home network operator despite having visited a number of operators and countries and having used different mobile standards. Close ties with its' sister company, Comfone AG, also founded by the umbrella company of TOGEWA Group, allow TOGEWAnet to benefit from Comfone' depth of experience in offering a wide range of roaming services to GSM operators.
